One
belief in the scientific world about nuclear fission reactions
is that nuclear fissions release energy. It is a wrong
understanding about the nuclear reactions. Only nuclear fusion
reactions release energy.
When
an energetic neutron bombards a Uranium nucleus, the Uranium
nucleus absorbs kinetic energy of the neutron and splits into
two daughter nuclei. In that fission moment, the particles in
the both nuclei are will be in a physically un-equilibrium
state. For restoring in a equilibrium state, the particles in
the both nuclei (the particles that present in the edge
regions) will re-arrange within the daughter pieces.
This re-arrangement leads to some extra bonding between the
particles in the nuclei. This bonding or overlapping between
the particles in the daughter nuclei is the cause of the
releasing of nuclear energy.
